Santa Monica Beach
Santa Monica Beach and its world-famous pier will host Olympic triathlon and marathon swimming, placing endurance athletes against one of California's most iconic backdrops. The triathlon—swimming, cycling, and running—will use the beach for its ocean swim leg, while the pier and Third Street Promenade area buzz with Olympic energy. Marathon swimming's grueling 10km race may also utilize these Pacific waters. With the Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel and coastline as visual anchors, these events will produce indelible Olympic images broadcast worldwide.
